Today, Tuesday 19 May, we announced a multi-million-pound settlement that will help low-income families with seriously ill or disabled children with the cost of equipment, goods or services, through Family Fund.
This government is determined to give all children the best possible education, but as well as great teachers, we want all pupils to learn in classrooms that enable them to gain the knowledge and skills they need for success.
We are working with various organisations including the National Sensory Impairment Partnership, to make sure that all schools meet their training needs in relation to SEND. We want all schools to be able to equip their workforce to teach children with SEND, including pupils with vision impairment.
Over 48,000 children were issued with new Education and Health Care Plans in the last year, and the majority of these were completed within 20 weeks. During the assessment process children continue to attend their school and receive additional support, until their tailored support package is put into place.

The Prime Minister has announced a generous three-year funding settlement for schools. Our job now is to support every school in the country to deliver the quality of education for children of all backgrounds, so that they’re given the grounding they need to make the most of their lives.
This £14billion funding increase – the largest cash boost in a generation - means our schools can continue to raise standards and build an education system that boosts productivity, improves social mobility and equips children with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the bright future that lies ahead.
