Today’s news review includes Education Secretary Nicky Morgan’s attendance at the vigil held for the victims of the shooting in Orlando.
Orlando vigil
On Monday 13 June, thousands gathered at vigils in memory of those killed in the Orlando shootings. Members of England's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities turned out in London's Soho district, and other towns and cities across the country to show their solidarity and support for LGBT people worldwide.
Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, Nicky Morgan, attended the memorial in Soho last night to pay her respects to the victims and support the LGBT community.
Her attendance has been covered by the Independent, Daily Mail, The Mirror, Express and Daily Star.
Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, Nicky Morgan, said:
I am horrified and saddened by the events in Orlando over the weekend and my heart goes out to the families, friends and partners of those who were killed and injured in this sickening terrorist attack.
This disgusting act of hate, targeted at LGBT people, must reaffirm our resolve to stand together and build a society where no one lives in fear because of who they are who they love.
