More funding for SEND and looking ahead to World Teachers’ Day
Over 48,000 children were issued with new Education and Health Care Plans in the last year, and the majority of these were completed within 20 weeks. During the assessment process children continue to attend their school and receive additional support, until their tailored support package is put into place.
Our ambition for justifiable salaries in higher education

The department will shortly consult on how best to bring Outstanding schools back into a regular cycle of inspection, so that schools and parents can have the up-to-date information they deserve about the performance and quality of the school.
The biggest funding boost for schools in a decade
This Government has announced the biggest funding boost for schools in a decade which will give every school more money for every child. We are investing a total of £14bn more in schools over the next three years to 2022-23.
Expanding the Institutes of Technology programme
The new funding will be used to expand the number of IoTs from 12 to 20, to make sure young people have access to quality technical education. The expansion will particularly benefit the North-West of England, Teesside, the East Midlands and cities along the South Coast.
Making higher education accessible and effective
The Secretary of State has urged universities to do more to help disadvantaged students to access and succeed in higher education.
Ensuring a good education for all children
Tackling disadvantage will always be a priority for this government. The gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers has narrowed since 2011, and 85% of children are now in good or outstanding schools compared to just 68% in 2010.
