Predictions in the media on pupils sitting exams
Today, Thursday 23 April, the Department for Education has issued a statement in response to reports that pupils who wish to may not be able to sit exams once schools reopen.
The Mail, Times and Guardian all reported this morning on the suggestion that exam boards will not promise to offer exams in all subjects in the autumn.
Our position on exams is clear:
A Department for Education spokesperson said
As directed by the Secretary of State, Ofqual is working closely with exam boards to make sure students who feel the grades they receive this summer are not an accurate reflection of their attainment can sit exams in the autumn.
The final arrangements are subject to consultation but the priority will be making sure no pupil is disadvantaged by the cancellation of this year’s exams.”
