Today’s news review looks at the Government’s 30 hours free childcare offer.
Tomorrow, Thursday 31 August, is the deadline to apply for our 30 hours free childcare offer and ahead of this media outlets were today running stories from nurseries which have been rolling out the offer one year early. The BBC’s Today programme went to a nursery in Harrogate where parents were ‘delighted’ and already seeing the benefits. BBC Radio 5 Live interviewed the Cooperative Childcare Group, who are supporting the offer and said they had received lots of favourable responses from parents.
We are already seeing the positive benefits the additional hours are having on families, taking huge pressures off families financially, reducing parental stress and allowing them to spend more quality time with family as a result. We also know that some parents have been able to enter into employment as a result, with many parents also being able to increase their working hours.
